High-Gain Directional VS. Omni Directional Antennas

When describing the differences between the two types of antennas, I like to compare them to flashlights and lamps. Think of a high-gain directional antenna as a flashlight that is able to reach a far range, while the omni-directional antenna is a lamp that gives off light all around, but in a short distance.

The Xirrus Wi-Fi Array arranges the high-gain directional antennas in a circular pattern to deliver greater range, bandwidth and RF control.
