Geneva Palexpo Increases Speed with Xirrus 802.11n

Historic Conference Center for the 79th International Motor Show Deploys Xirrus 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays, Delivering High-Speed Internet Connectivity to Hundreds of Guests

Xirrus, Inc., the Wi-Fi “Power-Play” that delivers the most wireless coverage, bandwidth, and throughput in the industry announces today the deployment of their 802.11abg+n Wi-Fi Arrays across the prestigious Geneva Palexpo located in Geneva, Switzerland. The Geneva Palexpo selected Xirrus for the Conference Center renovation project because Xirrus was able to cover the conference center with 75% fewer devices, cables, and ports than any other Wi-Fi vendor and because they were the only Wi-Fi vendor capable of delivering high-speed wireless internet connectivity to thousands of attendees utilizing all types of Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

“Originally built in 1926 to home the Geneva International Motor Show and rebuilt in 1981, Palexpo is one of the oldest and most historic conference centers in the world, so last year we invested about $7 million dollars to renovate the Palexpo’s architecture, furnishings, and technology,” said Yves Cretegny, IT & Financial Director of Palexpo SA. “Access point architectures from traditional Wi-Fi vendors have been troublesome—they require too many devices and cannot deliver the amount of bandwidth or user density for our large exhibitions. We brought in Xirrus and are highly impressed with the amount of area, bandwidth, and users supported by a single product—there is nothing else like it on the market today.”

“Anyone looking for a simpler, more intelligent way of deploying Wi-Fi must give Xirrus a call,” added Olivier Ramel, IT Manager at Palexpo SA. “Xirrus integrates multiple access points and a controller into a single wireless access device making it possible to deploy far fewer access points, cables, and switches, saving us money, time, and energy. We deployed the Xirrus 802.11n Arrays around our Conference Center facility and now have a world-class Wi-Fi network to support hundreds of concurrent guests utilizing voice, video, and data devices.”

“As a result of the recent upgrade, Geneva Palexpo is able to provide exhibitors and guests with high-speed wireless connectivity for all of their events,” said Vladimir Urayev, Regional Director at Xirrus. “Whether the prestigious International Motor Show, the ITU Telecom World, or the International Advanced Mobility Forum, Palexpo now has a Wi-Fi network they can rely on.”
